Makovo
Because of the vicinity of Bitola and regional road [509] which passes through the village, Makovo unlike other Mariovo villages is somewhat larger. Number of residents is 71 according to the census in 2002. It is situated at altitude of 693 m. and it is first village in Small Mariovo. How exactly the name of the village occurred is not known, but can afford to assume that it is closely related with the tradition of the poppy cultivation (poppyseed ) in this region.
In 1860 the church was built dedicated to St. Archangel Michael, which was demolished to the ground during the WWI. In 1926 it is again raised but with the name St. Resurrection. It was renovated sometime in 1997 with a donation from the association "Makovo" in Melbourne - Australia.
It is interesting that in Makovo for last few years was located the base of the television crew that shot the Turkish hit series "Elveda Rumeli" (2007-2009) or in translation "Farewell Rumelia". In 2010 here were shot the final scenes of the Turkish film "Come on now" and started the shooting of Macedonian short film "The Myth of Sarah".
