Zovikj
After crossing og bridge on Black River, at the locality called Chebren, Zovikj is the first village in area called Uper or Old Mariovo and it is situated on the left side of the road at altitude of 725 m. In the past Zovikj was called B'Zovikj and it is presumed that the village take its name by the name of plant Boz (Sambucus nigrа) which in plenty grows around the village.
Zovikj is best known for the bridge on Gradeshka River which flows near the village creating its ravine riverbed in a rocky area. The bridge was set during the Ottoman Rule but it was built of wood. As Mile Markovski, resident from Zovikj, says, in 1955 the bridge went down under presure of one cart along with oxes and the owner. The man remained alive without major injuries.Then the villagers get organized and called masons to build a new bridge. The bridge was built in 1956 by masons Trajko Sekirkov and Gjuladin and it is real masterpiece that fits architecturally perfect into the surrounding environment. The bridge became especially popular and began to attract domestic and foreign visitors after Milcho Manchevski on it shoot a few scenes from his film "Dust"(2001) and thus contribute to its popularity.
The bridge connects Bitola's Mariovo and Prilep's Mariovo, from Zovikj to the villages Beshishte and Polchishte.
Today in Zovikj live about 20 residents.
